BETA UK rider Ian Austermuhle, from Malton, proved king of the dales once again as he rode to a fantastic win in Guisborough District Motor Club’s prestigious John Hardaker National trial on Sunday.

Held in the upper reaches of Glaisdale in blustery but bright conditions, Austermuhle, pictured right, fought off a strong challenge from fellow Beta rider Andy Chilton, from Whitby, and Pontefract’s Liam Walker over the two-lap, 20-section course.

With the miserly loss of just one mark, lost on section three on his first lap, he fired in a clean last lap, which no other expert rider could match, to leave him a clear winner.

Marton’s David Pye mastered the intermediate class with a cracking ride, while Whitby`s Richard Harrison held his nerve to win clubman ‘B’ class.

Meanwhile, Eboracum MC, of York, have donated £1,500 to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The club hold an annual two-day Charity Trial at Ouseburn and over the years this event has raised thousands of pounds for good causes.

This year’s main cause was the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, although, additionally, £100 was handed to Rosedale Reading Room and £75 to the North Yorkshire Music Therapy Centre based in Malton.

Oliver Kendra, of Pocklington, won this year’s two-day trial.
