Angling: Duo are the paste-setters
2:43pm Wednesday 21st August 2013 in Sport
TWO local paste experts, Brian Pallister and Colin McNeil, had it all their own way at Raker Lakes on Friday, finishing first and second respectively in Plaxtons match on the Horseshoe.
The former sat at peg 21 and weighed in with 115lb 8oz of carp, while the latter was on peg 16 and banked 109lb 12oz.
Alan Creaser put in a fantastic performance earlier in the week to keep Pallister and McNeil at bay in G B Angling Club’s match at Forest Lane Fishery, Alne.
Playing them at their own game by fishing pole and paste at peg 10, he put together a haul of carp and barbel totalling 103lb 12oz.
Pallister crossed the line in second with 100lb 6oz while McNeil was third with 99lb 3oz.
Tony Mellor also joined the ton-up club last week, putting 102lb 3oz on the scales to win Monday’s Contemptibles match at Rosedale Fishery.
Using his standard floating pole approach with banded pellet fished up in the water, he attracted the attention of carp up to the 8lb mark.
Brian Hewitt chased the silver fish at peg 15 and secured second place with 12lb 1oz.
Jim Pearson found cat food to the carp’s liking over at Sessay in Wednesday’s York midweek match, banking a winning 81lb 4oz with the bait from peg 16 on Cedar Lake.
Gerald Chalk opted for the paste at peg six and put 72lb on the scales.
Shaun Fox just got the verdict with 1lb 4oz of pole-caught roach and gudgeon from peg three out in the grass paddock at Menethorpe.
Richard Pearson sat next to the winner at peg four and was second with 1lb 3oz.
