PROMOTION-CHASING Heworth beat Beverley Town II by six wickets to keep up the pressure on the top two in division one of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League.

There were runs for Ben Fish (30), Phil Du Boulay (36) and Paul Best (35) in Beverley’s 172 as Tom Neal claimed 3-37 and Rich Walton 4-37.

Ollie Sherwood then hit 61, while Rich Walton got 41 and Sam Lingard 33 as Heworth eased home.

Hull Zingari strengthened their grip on top spot with a three-wicket win over second-placed Fenner.

Pickering improved their chances of beating the drop with a five- wicket victory at Harrogate.

The hosts posted a total of 200-6 with Mark Shepherd claiming 4-59.

In reply, Shaun Smith made 54 before Colin Frank steered his side to a winning 201-5 with an unbeaten 62.

Goole and visitors Sessay took 21 points each from a tie. Mark Wilkie made 34 and Tom Wilkinson 32 in Sessay’s 136-9, while Ollie Sugden 35 top-scored in Goole’s 136-8.

Folkton & Flixton returned from Whitkirk with 24 points from a closely-fought draw.

Flixton bagged maximum batting points by reaching 201-9 thanks to Oliver Stephenson’s 84 and the Leeds side closed on 195-9.

Bridlington came off second best in a draw with Driffield.

Driffield totalled 208 all out thanks to James Grieveson’s 41.

Brid’s reply was fronted by Nick Tennant (50) as they made 190-9.

The top two sides in division two clashed at Londesborough Park, with home bowlers Darren Moody (4-25) and Rich Foster (4-3) setting up a win for the leaders over Woodhouse Grange. Matt Shepherd hit 46 in Grange’s modest 91 and Park won by seven wickets thanks to Greg Drewery’s 29 and an unbeaten 41 by James Hanley.

Thirsk’s James Porter (4-21) had Tadcaster Magnet all out for 91 before his side won by nine wickets.

Bolton Percy just had the edge in a draw at Malton when their 158-9 was followed by a home score of 150-8.

Bolton’s James Green made 54 and Jamie Rigby 45 as Mike Linsley took 3-28 and Mark Yates 4-42, each off 12 overs.

Linsley’s 64 and Wayne Dawson’s 26 took Malton close.

Clifton Alliance gained a 142-run win at Thorp Arch.

Clifton’s John Myers (46) and Jason Gatus (36) added 82 for the third wicket.

A 101-run partnership between Nick Townson (71) and Alistair Wray (37) helped the Alliance to 257-8. Thorp Arch bowler Josh Vivian returned 6-39.

Ryan Turner then took 4-22 as Arch were all out for 115.

There was a memorable debut for 13-year-old Ted Patmore as he took 5-46 in a superb 12-over spell for York against Welton & Brough.

Matthew Wright took 3-32 as Welton posted a total of 203.

York’s Alex Szepietowski (69) and Toby Pratt (102no) logged a first-wicket stand of 123 as York clocked up a seven-wicket win.
