2:35pm Wednesday 7th August 2013 in Sport
FOREST Lane Fishery, Alne, produced the goods for G B Angling Club last Tuesday with the top three rods amassing just shy of 300lb between them.
Colin McNeil just got the verdict with 110lb 11oz of pole-and-paste-caught carp, pushing Brian Pallister into second with 102lb 9oz, who in turn relegated Phil Roberts into third with 84lb 9oz.
Floating pole at 20 metres with banded pellet fished up in the water did the business for Tony Mellor twice last week.
He took 64lb 8oz of carp with the method to win Monday’s Contemptibles match at Rosedale Fishery and followed this up in Friday’s Phoenix Angling Veterans match on the middle lake at Westland’s fishery with a haul of carp weighing 89lb 2oz.
Paul Bilton carried on his good run of form, winning Wednesday’s York midweek match with 78lb 8oz of carp.
Fishing from peg 31 on the Horseshoe Lake at Poppleton Fishery with pole and paste, he took specimens to the 8lb mark.
Dennis Fish was second with 66lb 10oz.
Roberts was first past the post in Plaxtons Friday afternoon match on the Folly Lake at Risby Park, weighing-in with 97lb 10oz.
Using standard pole-and-paste tactics at peg 19 he took carp to the 3lb mark.
McNeil had to settle for second this time with 89lb 14oz.
Ken Dalton led the way in Malton & Norton AC’s Monday evening match at Don’s pond with a catch of 15lb 6oz and now looks uncatchable in the league with 22 points, 11 clear of second-placed Brian Scott.
Malton & Norton AC fish round nine of their summer series this Sunday on the River Ouse at Linton. For more information, phone Paul Thompson on 01653 618602.
