SCALBY 2nds cemented top spot in Division C of the Readers Scarborough Beckett League after winning at Wykeham who were bowled out for 143.

George Shannon (31) and Ben Metcalfe (30) top scored for Wykeham as Darrell Morley (3-49) and Tom Gregory (4-42) created problems. Scalby’s Tim Barton (31) and Tom Gregory (36no) helped gain a five-wicket victory.

Thornton Dale are 11 points adrift in second place after overcoming Ganton by six wickets. Ganton posted a challenging 202-8 with Rob Gretton (67) and Stuart Ward (54) featuring in a fourth wicket stand of 82.

John Bannister added 24 as Chris Headlam claimed 4-40 for Dale who won after a fourth wicket partnership of 94 between Tim Hunt (73 no) and David Scott (45). Lewis White contributed 33.

Heslerton 2nds gained their second win of the season, being replaced at the foot of the table by Cloughton 2nds whom they beat by five wickets.

Opener John Fewster starred for Cloughton before being run out for 58. Steve Chambers added 29 to lift the total to 150. Adam Duffil took 3-48 and skipper John Wharton 3-32. After the break James Almond (62 no) and Ed Senior (22 not out) knocked off the runs for the loss of five wickets.

Staithes 2nds were put at Ravenscar, making 183-7 after good knocks from Luke Harrison (46), Connor Clennan (38) and Paul Wilson (36). Will Warwick bowled a full stint of 23 overs for 5-63. After tea, Ravenscar slipped to 38-3 but Matt Smith (65), including six sixes, added 75 for the 4th wicket with Josh Rewcroft, who finished unbeaten on 55 to guide the home team to victory by five wickets.

Chris Beal (64), James Wingrove (29) and Jon Metcalfe (35) took Ebberston 2nds to 156-5 at Seamer 2nds who were bowled out for 192, Joe Dunnett taking 5-27.
