Monsoon wipes out opening day at Malaysian Open

A MALAYSIAN monsoon wiped out Simon Dyson’s opening day of the Malaysian Open.

York’s world number 100 was two-under after the opening nine holes when play was suspended after a deluge of Biblical proportions swamped the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country club.

It was an eventful outward nine for the 35-year-old Dyson. His four birdies at the first, third, fifth and eighth holes were marred by a double-bogey six on the 444-yard par-four second.

The rest of the first round and the second round were scheduled to be completed later today.
