Gearing up for Pock 7s

Ryedale will have two representatives when Pocklington stages Yorkshire’s oldest rugby seven-a-side tournament – the 55th John Smith’s Pock 7s – on Good Friday (March 29).

Malton & Norton, who were the runners-up last year, will begin their bid to go one better this term at 1pm, and they are followed at 2.20pm by a Three Feathers side from Helmsley.

As well as coming close to winning the main competition a number of times, Malton have also lifted the Plate on four occasions, the last in 2006.

This year’s tournament again has a full entry of 24 sides, with a mixture of local clubs, teams from further afield and invitation outfits. It all kicks off at noon.
