Final double for Edgehill
3:20pm Wednesday 20th March 2013 in Sport
EDGEHILL completed a knockout double over Newlands Park by beating them 4-2 in the Scarborough & District FA Harbour Cup semi-finals.
This victory came a week after they had defeated Newlands in the Scarborough & District League Cup.
Newlands stunned their hosts by taking a two-goal first-half lead through Michael Wilson and a Luke Delve penalty.
However, Liam Cooper halved the deficit on the hour mark, and Edgehill levelled the scores when Paddy Mancrief, playing against his former club, inadvertently deflected a Phil Warnett effort into his own goal.
Carl Hepples then put Edgehill ahead 10 minutes from time and Macie ‘Magic’ Kapynski sealed the win in the last minute.
Cooper and Hepples were Edgehill’s top performers, and Mancrief and Jordan Mintoft Newlands’ men of the match.
Itis Itis won 5-3 at West Riding to claim a place in the FA Sunday Cup final. Goals by Luke Chambers (2), Isaac Sands, John-Paul Watson and Gavin Wood won the semi-final, despite West Riding netting through Kurt Williamson, Cameron Malcolm and Nick Ellis.
Itis Itis will play the winners of the Newlands Park versus Trafalgar tie, which was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
