Kirkbymoorside ship in the goals

DEPLETED Kirkbymoorside endured a bad week in the Wearside League with two defeats and 10 goals against.

They were well beaten 4-1 at home by Seaton Carew on Saturday to leave them fifth from bottom of the table, following a 6-2 midweek loss at Prudhoe Town.

After a goalless first half against Carew, Sarjo Cham fired the Moorsiders ahead following a long throw by Matty Bower.

However, the Moorsiders only had a bare 11 for this game and played the whole of the second period with 10 men after one of the players departed at half-time, and the visitors scored four goals in the last 25 minutes, despite a man-of-the-match performance from goalkeeper Adam Magson and decent defending from Aaran Rivis and Matty Bower.

Last Wednesday, the Moorsiders conceded three goals in the opening 10 minutes at Prudhoe. They made a spirited comeback before the interval – Karl Richardson tapped in following a Jonny Birbeck free-kick and Jordan Rivis scored with a 30-yard bullet. However, the Tynedale side scored an early second-half goal to get back on top, and two further goals followed in the closing minutes.

The Moorsiders are away tonight (Wednesday) at Silksworth (7.30pm) and on Saturday host Boldon CA (2.30pm).
