Union ‘A’ held on to a slender lead at the top of Malton & Norton League division ‘A’ as they came from 2-0 behind to win 5-2 at Hyde Park ‘A’.
Derwent Arms ‘B’ closed the gap by another point and are just two adrift with a game in hand after they lost their first frame but re-grouped to beat Union ‘B’ 6-1.
Malton Cons continued their good form by brushing aside Bright Steels ‘A’ 5-2 to remain comfortable in third.
Queens Head moved out of the relegation zone with an excellent 5-2 win at Blue Ball ‘A’ while Hyde Park ‘B’ drop into the bottom two with a loss to Railway Tavern ‘A’.
The top two in division ‘B’ are now locked on 103 points after second-placed Spotted Cow beat leaders Bright Steels ‘B’, who hold on to top spot. Both teams are assured of promotion.
In the semi-finals of the mixed pairs competition, the brother-sister combination of Wayne Taylor and Kirsty Taylor, four times past winners, booked their place in the final by beating Paul Westoby and Dilys Wright 2-0.
They will meet James Milson and Sarah Cook, who also won their match 2-0.
