Hockey: boost for Old Malton
2:53pm Wednesday 20th March 2013 in Sport
OLD Malton bolstered their promotion hopes in Yorkshire Men’s League division one with a 3-0 win over Doncaster III.
Malton stay third but level on points with second-placed Kingston-upon-Hull II with three games left compared to Hull’s one. Normanby Park I are three points below Malt and can yet catch them.
Malton have a double-header this weekend against Harrogate II and Huddersfield Dragons II, and must also rearrange a potentially vital fixture against Normanby Park.
Pickering I fell back into relegation danger in Yorkshire Women’s League when crashing 6-0 at Legiolians. They need three points from their last two games to be safe.
It was a different story for goal-happy Pickering II as they bagged 20 strikes in two games – hammering Halifax IV 10-1 on Saturday and then crushing Bradford University I 10-0 24 hours later, both at the Northern Ryedale Leisure Centre.
Already guaranteed promotion, these results secured the division six Yorkshire title with two games to go.
