Football: Points to get for Whitby Town

WHITBY Town were aiming to get back to winning ways this week after their renaissance was halted by the Evo-Stik League premier division leaders and then the bad weather.

Saturday’s home game with Ilkeston Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, and this followed a 4-2 home loss to North Ferriby United in front of a crowd of 242.

Ferriby took a two-goal lead in the opening 10 minutes through Gregg Anderson and Ryan Kendall. Craig Farrell pulled a goal back after 20 minutes but Kendall netted again after 36.

Farrell also scored a second goal but former Bradford City man Kendall completed a hat-trick after 71 minutes to seal the points and stay top of the league’s goal-scoring charts.

Whitby, in 14th place after the weekend, were away last night (Tuesday) at Grantham Town, and on Saturday they travel to 17th-placed Matlock Town.
