Golf: Par-Tee tour's quick double

YORK’S Par-Tee Golf Societies Winter Tour played two rounds in quick succession after being hit by the bad weather since the turn of the year.

At Scalm Park Golf Club, tour leader Paul Hillaby claimed his third tour victory carding 38 points playing off 17.

Guest Mark McLaren, who won both the longest drive and nearest the pin prizes, was runner-up on 37 with Dave Kilner third on 28.

Forest of Galtres GC hosted round nine in which Peter Lambert posted his second tour triumph with 39 points. Rich Garner was just one point further back and Kilner was again third on 37.

Garner won the longest drive honour and Gary Smith the nearest the pin award.

With three rounds to go – the next at Sandburn Hall GC tomorrow – Hillaby still tops the overall rankings, but his lead has been almost halved by nearest challenger Smith.
