Football: Filey Town loss opens door

SCARBOROUGH & District League division one leaders Filey Town crashed 1-0 at home to Newlands Park to open the door to teams below them.
Hugh Brown scored the only goal in the last minute after an even game.
Ryedale Sports Club won 5-2 at Fishburn Park Reserves in a rearranged game thanks to goals by Joel Richardson (2), Adam Hornby, Ben Thompson and Harry Reed.
Lowly Hunmanby shocked hosts Whitby Fishermen 4-3 thanks to goals by Cameron Dobson, Ryan Baldry and Tom Rees (2), with centre-back Tom Brown their man of the match.
In division two, Rillington Athletic drew 1-1 at home to Cayton Corinthi-ans. Rillington took the lead with a second-half penalty by Shaun Ward.
Scalby did much better than of late, winning 4-1 at Newlands Park with Danny Birley, Francis Lightfoot (2) and Tommy Walker on target. Ex-Pickering Town striker Dougie McGregor scored for Newlands.
In the third division, Seamer Sports reserves beat Westover Wasps reserves 5-0 with Sam Sweeting (2), Connor Myerscough, Dan Jewitt and an own goal on target.
In the League Trophy, FC Soba saw off West Pier Reserves 5-2. Soba cruised five up through Liam Vasey with two penalties, Matty Turner and Craig Rackham (2). Flixton beat Sleights 2-0 with goals in either half by Tim Jackson and James Hughes.
In the Frank White Trophy, Ayton reserves suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at Cayton Corinthians reserves.
Mark Dove missed a penalty for Ayton, before Zak Hanson put Cayton ahead. Tyson Stubbings levelled but Cayton won it with a Bradley Sykes strike midway through the second half.
• West Pier won 3-2 at local Scarborough & District League first division rivals Edgehill to reach the final of the North Riding County FA Saturday Challenge Cup.
Danny White tapped in a Dean Craig free kick to give Edgehill the lead but Pier turned things round through Steve Sheader and Danny Cooper from Mikey Barker corners. Edgehill levelled through Dean Craig but man-of-the-match Barker got the winner.
