Turnover rise for Yorkshire County Cricket Club
10:21am Tuesday 5th March 2013 in Sport
Yorkshire have announced a post-tax deficit of £118,000 in their financial results for 2012, an improvement of £300,000 plus from the previous year.
The White Rose, who lost £460,000 in 2011 and hold their annual general meeting at Headingley later this month, have also generated a turnover of £7.8 million – an improvement from £5.4 million.
They also reported an operational surplus of £1.2 million compared to £393,000 in 2011, mainly due to the return of Test cricket when South Africa visited last August.
Yorkshire, whose last Test was in 2010, have described their trading position as “very healthy”.
They have said they would have returned a surplus had it not been for a number of reasons, including poor weather and the impact of the Olympics on Test match hospitality. But they were helped by County Championship promotion and t20 success, which brought unbudgeted income from both a home quarter-final and the Champions League.
A statement added: “Servicing of the club’s debt continues to exert pressure, with £1 million paid in interest in 2012.”
