Darts: Swan jump back to top

New Inn relinquished their brief tenure at the top of the Moors League as they lost 6-4 to visiting Moors Inn.

Tom Pickering put Moors ahead, edging Rob Aconley only for Nie Monkman (140, 135, 3x100) to level.

Keith Dickson, Nigel Aconley, Derek Bannister and Mick Barnes (140) then built a solid Moors lead before a Dickson-Aconley pairing sealed the win.

White Swan jumped back to the top, after beating Buck Inn ‘B’ 7-3 despite not scoring heavily.

Clive Atkinson claimed Buck’s only individual win. Team-mate Dave Cockerill hit a 140 and Mike Wilson recorded three 100s but still lost to Swan’s Karen Medd.

Mark Haines starred in Buck Inn ‘A’s fine 8-2 victory at Crown Inn, scoring three 100s and finishing on 66, while Ken Hornby earned a singles point for Crown and another in the pairs with Steve Winfield.

Sun Inn won 7-3 in the derby at Appletree, Marton, where 19 ton-plus scores were recorded.

Appletree’s Colin Pepler (140, 125, 2x100) overcame Ian Robson (2x140, 120, 100) in the game of the night after Geoff Allan (140), Neil Robson (140, 2x100) and Keith Moss (125, 100) had put Sun 3-0 up.

Coach House had a great 7-3 win at Blacksmiths ‘A’ Lastingham, helped by 140s from Laura Thomp-son and Matt Cook and a 69 checkout from Chris O’Hara on the bull. Adam Durrant recorded a couple of tons in his singles win for ’Smiths.

Richard Thompson and Michael Wearmouth scored 140 apiece in Blacksmiths Hartofts’ 6-4 victory over Blacksmiths ‘B’ Lastingham.

Becky Mussett and Howard Hebron also won for Hartoft with Luke Walton (2x100), Shaun Wilson and Paul Miers replying. Hartoft crucially took both pairs legs.
