Snooker: Kershaw class
12:38pm Wednesday 27th February 2013 in Sport
Scarborough’s Simon Kershaw hit top form to lift the trophy when Eboracum Motor Club held their popular Kay Trophy Trial on Sunday at Moor Farm, Ouseburn.
The event, on a bright but bitterly cold day, included rounds of the Youth and Southern Championship and attracted 93 entries. Kershaw proved too experienced for his rivals over this rocky and steep woodside course, earning his win with fine rides on the hillside rocks of section six.
Wombleton’s Shane Monkman was knocked down to third in a hard-fought clubman ‘A’ class.
Meanwhile, Scarborough DMC are to stage a fundraising trial for Red Nose Day on Sunday, March 10, at Low North Park.
It is likely to include 12 sections and three laps around the old Army camp, starting at 10am. Fancy dress and face painting is encouraged, although usual safety gear must be worn, as must a red nose.
