MALTON & Norton have achieved the Rugby Football Union (RFU) Club Accreditation standard, having previously been registered with the scheme’s forerunner Seal of Approval status since 2005.

The Accreditation scheme was introduced to help club sections to become stronger and more effective, efficient and enjoyable places in which to play rugby.

It provides a framework for a club to show what it is doing, how it does it, and where it can improve. Previously the Seal of Approval applied to the club’s Mini and Junior sections, but the Club Accreditation applies to the whole club.

It ensures clubs adhere to six key elements – retaining and developing players; recruiting new players; recruiting and retaining quality coaches, volunteers and referees; effective and efficient facilities; effective and efficient management and governance; and integration with the local community.

Malton & Norton, based at The Gannock, run three open-age teams, and mini and junior teams from under-7 to U19, and work with the East Yorkshire RFU to relaunch U13s girls’ rugby in the district.

Recent investment supported by the RFU, Sport England and Ryedale District Council has seen the club benefit from enhanced changing room facilities and an enlarged and newly-equipped kitchen.
