2:56pm Wednesday 20th February 2013 in Sport
FOURTH-PLACED Blacksmiths ‘A’ Lastingham continued their great form as they gave Moors League champions White Swan a scare in a 5-5 draw.
Richard Sellars (2x100), Dave Collinson, Andy Biggins and Adam Durrant (2x100) saw Blacksmiths 4-3 up after the singles, with Ady Holliday, Keith Eddon and Neil Eddon (140, 100) replying for Swan, who had to win the three-a-side to tie the match.
New Inn took advantage of Swan’s slip to move two points clear at the top after a comprehensive 8-2 victory at Coach House aided by Nie Monkman’s three 140 scores and a 90 checkout. Al Hodgson supported well with 140, 125 and 100, while Jimmy Porter’s singles win and the three-a side point were the only highlights for House.
Moors Inn sit comfortably third, after beating visitors Buck Inn ‘B’ 6-4 with Andy Tock, Mick Barnes, Tom Pickering and Sam Dickson laying the foundations. Col Ward starred for Buck with 140 and 132 in his win against James Rule.
Buck Inn ‘A’ continued their winning ways at Appletree Inn, this time 7-3 with Mike Phillips (140) and Mark Haines (125, 100) top scoring. Jim Thompson and Steve Fielding notched singles wins for Appletree with Dick Bell and Bill Tweddle grabbing a pairs point.
Harriet Sanders hit 160, 125 and a 55 finish for Sun Inn as they beat visiting Blacksmiths, Hartoft 6-4.
Geoff Allan, Richard Wilson (80 finish) and Gemma Moss also won for Sun, while Becky Mussett impressed for Hartoft by beating the home side’s dangerman, Neil Robson (3x100).
Blacksmiths ‘B’ Lastingham drew 5-5 with Crown Inn after Ken Hornby, Patrick Bernstein, Pete Dowsland (69 finish) and Steve Winfield had put Crown in charge. Rob Allanson (121, 2x100), Jon Bointon (121, 100) and Paul Miers pulled 'Smiths back into the match and towards a share of the points.
