ONLY five points separate the top four teams in the Malton, Norton & District League after the latest round of matches.
Malton Cons ‘A’ hold a two-point lead over their ‘C’ team at the summit, with Pickering Cons ‘A’ a further point behind and Bright Steels in fourth. Malton Cons ‘C’ have a game in hand on the others.
The top two drew 3-3.
For the hosts, Simon Weatherill made breaks of 36, 21 and 22 in the singles and 63 in the pairs, and Dom Spiteri made a 23 break, all in victory.
John Ruston, Steve Beal and Barry Elener won frames for the visitors.
Lee Taylor shone with breaks of 34 and 57 as Pickering Cons ‘A’ got back to winning ways with a 5-1 home win over their ‘C’ team.
Frame wins came from Jim Woods, Taylor, Mark Thorsby and Paul Elgey, as well as Taylor and Dave King in the doubles. Peter Skaife took the point for the ‘C’ team.
Bright Steels crashed to a whitewash defeat at home to Pickering Cons ‘D’ – the visitors’ first win of the season.
Three frames were decided on the black ball.
