NEW Inn moved to within one point of the Moors League summit after an 8-2 victory at Crown Inn.
They strolled 5-0 up before Patrick Bernstein got Crown on the scoreboard despite his New Inn opponent Ady Cook hitting consecutive 140s.
Jason McLaren continued the Crown revival but the visitors rallied to take all three team games.
Leaders White Swan also went 5-0 up at Sun Inn, with Tim Nichols leading the charge, hitting 123, 121 and two 100s and Ady Holliday supporting with 125 and 100 as he beat Sun’s Neil Robson (140).
Richard Wilson hit a couple of tons as he won Sun’s first point but an Alf Cass win and a pairs point from Nichols and Holliday saw Swan home 7-3.
Moors Inn were on fine scoring form but only edged Coach House 6-4. Keith Dickson (180,140, 2x100), Tom Pickering (180), Derek Bannister (140) and Mick Barnes (121, 100) led the Moors’ treble fest but Jon Gibson, Bri Cook and Laura Thompson all took their chances to grab individual points for House.
Josh Greenlay hit a tidy 97 checkout to set Buck Inn ‘A’ on the way to a 6-4 victory at Blacksmiths ‘B’ Lastingham. The reliable Paul Miers recorded a 140 for ’Smiths in his singles win over Mike Phillips, then paired up with Jon Bointon to win a further point.
Spoils were shared when Appletree Inn hosted Blacksmiths Hartoft. Jim Thompson and Graham Kirk put the home side 2-0 up. Richard Thompson (140, 100), Becky Mussett and Shaun Doughty made it 3-2 to Hartoft before Dick Bell and Steve Fielding swung it back 4-3 to Appletree. Blacksmiths fought back to win two out of three team games for the draw.
Col Ward starred for Buck Inn ‘B’, scoring 125 and three 100s in their 5-5 draw with Blacksmiths ‘A’ Lastingham. Bud Sharples and Mike Peirson also won singles legs for Buck, while Lucy Rutter, Adam Durrant, Andy Biggins and Dave Collinson replied for Blacksmiths.
