Trial Biking: Whitby’s Andy Chilton wins expert class

SCARBOROUGH District Motor Club heralded the start of the East Yorks Centre Trials Championship rounds at their Harwood Dale practice ground on Sunday with a tough, three-lap, 12-section event for the 80 entrants.
Whitby’s Andy Chilton won the expert class ahead of Yarm’s Tom Affleck and reigning East Yorks champion Simon Kershaw, of Scarborough.
Colin Bailey from Egton Bridge did well to hang on for the win in clubman ‘A’ after a heavy tumble on the first section.
Youth ‘A’ winner Dan Peace, the rising Kirkbymoorside star, showed maturity beyond his years, particularly in these conditions, to record unpenalised rides on five of the 12 hazards.
