Angler Brian Pallister enjoys easy victory at Raker Lakes

BRIAN PALLISTER dropped on a shoal of carp in Friday’s Westland’s AC match on the high bank at Raker Lakes and secured an easy win with 44lb 14oz.

Fishing the margin pole up to the reeds at peg 11, he took specimens to the 4lb mark with single maggot for bait.

Mick Mathews took second place with 17lb, landing one carp on the feeder before switching to pole and caster to top up with skimmers and roach at peg 16.

Peg 11 was still the peg to draw in Sunday’s knock-up on the high bank and this time Gordon Farmery was the lucky recipient, making no mistakes to land a winning 30lb 8oz. Using standard margin pole tactics with pellet for bait he took carp to 4lb.

Colin McNeil sat at peg 10 on the opposite end of the reed bed to the winner and had to be content with 16lb and second place.

Norton’s Brian Jordan was to the fore in the York Midweeker at Raker Lakes, taking a winning 13lb 2oz off peg 10 on the Horseshoe lake.

Fishing out at 12 metres with pole and single caster, he banked four perch up to the 2lb mark plus skimmers and roach.

Second-placed John Hawe opted for a pole and maggot approach and tempted two small carp plus silver fish for 12lb 4oz.

Ray Jones made his four bites count in Friday’s Phoenix Angling Veterans match on the carp lake at Wykeham Fishery, banking four carp with the ground bait feeder and maggot combination to put a winning 15lb 13oz on the scales.

Bill Newsome tempted three carp on the same method to secure runners-up spot with a level 13lb.
