OLIVER HANNON-DALBY has been allowed to train with county champions Warwickshire, writes Graham Hardcastle.

The Yorkshire fast bowler is in the second week of a trial at Edgbaston after Yorkshire gave the 23-year-old permission to look for another county despite still being under contract with the Tykes.

He is working in the Midlands under the guidance of new director of cricket Dougie Brown and bowling coach Graeme Welch.

“He is down there,” confirmed Yorkshire’s director of professional cricket Martyn Moxon, who has added two more experienced bowlers in Liam Plunkett and Jack Brooks to the county’s squad this winter.

“We spoke to him when we came back from South Africa about his future and his chances of regular first-team cricket. We are not sure how things will go.”

Hannon-Dalby, 6ft 8in tall, has struggled for regular first-team cricket since bursting onto the scene by taking 5-68 against the Bears at Edgbaston in the early stages of the 2010 summer – his second firstclass match. He has taken 43 wickets in 24 matches in all.

Warwickshire’s Brown added: “He is here with Yorkshire’s blessing, but there is a chance that they might decide to take him on their pre-season tour (of Barbados).

“At the moment, all we are doing is having a look at him.”

Meanwhile, Yorkshire’s executive chairman Colin Graves has put his name forward to succeed Dennis Amiss as the ECB’s deputy chairman when he steps down in April. Essex’s Nigel Hilliard has done the same.
