Classic form being sought by golf ace Simon Dyson

Malton & Norton GC star Simon Dyson
NORTH Yorkshire ace Simon Dyson’s Middle East mission enters a third degree when he tackles the Dubai Desert Classic tomorrow.
The tournament, where the prize fund totals $2.5million, is the last of a gulf state hat-trick and, after making the cut in both the Abu Dhabi Championship and Qatar Masters, the Malton & Norton Golf Club star will be striving to make a bigger impact at the Emirates GC in Dubai.
A tie for 52nd place was followed by a joint finish of 64 at the Doha GC in Qatar after which his world ranking position dropped one spot to 74th.
But the 35-year-old, who last year reached a career-high 26 in the global ratings, will want to improve on his overall performance in Dubai.
Dyson signed off the Qatar Masters with a one-under-par round of 71.
That took him to two under for the tournament and a three-way tie.
He dropped a shot at the par-three eighth hole, but clawed back two shots in the next two – each par fives.
A bogey five at the 15th was quickly rectified with a birdie on the par-four 16th for the 71, which followed on from his earlier rounds of 71, 72 and 72.
England’s Chris Wood bagged an eagle on the last hole to land the £300,000 winner’s cheque and his debut European Tour title.
Meanwhile, Dyson has signed up to promote Bridgewater Hospital, one of the UK’s leading elective healthcare businesses.
The tie-up was confirmed after Dyson’s management company – International Sports Management – signed on to a deal with Bridgewater, which attracts professional athletes and celebrities to its service.
Said Dyson, who like the rest of ISM’s roster of sportsmen will have access to the hospital’s facilities, with full body screening, medical check-ups and fitness and nutrition advice: “Hopefully I won’t need to use the medical facilities but it is re-assuring to know they are there just in case.
“As someone who is always working hard to improve my game, I’m looking forward to taking advantage of the fitness and nutrition guidance that Bridgewater can offer.”
