Liam Salt to stay at Pickering Town
11:59am Friday 25th January 2013 in Sport
GOAL getter Liam Salt has decided to stay at Pickering Town.
The club’s leading scorer turned down an approach from Northern Counties East League premier division high fliers Bridlington Town to remain at the Recreation Ground.
Bridlington last week put in a seven-day notice of approach to talk to the 23-goal marksman.
Pikes manager Jimmy Reid said: “We were desperate to keep him and I think we have got the nucleus of a decent team. We had a bit of a nippy start to the season, but we have got a good base to go on and have a go next year. Salty is a big part of that.”
Reid was not expecting tomorrow’s NCEL clash at home to Armthorpe Welfare to be played – with wintry weather still affecting the Recreation Ground pitch.
