Double century for former Malton & Old Malton cricketer Dave Nankervis

FORMER Malton & Old Malton cricketer Dave Nankervis is celebrating his 200th first XI Victorian Premier Cricket appearance in Melbourne.

The Australian wicketkeeper-batsman played for the Ryedale club in the York & District Senior League in the 2003 season before returning down under.

He has now racked up a double century of games for Frankston Peninsula, becoming only the second player in the club’s history to reach the landmark.

After making his debut in 1998-99, his record, prior to his 200th game, included 374 dismissals at the highest grade and 2,520 runs with a highest score of 101.

Parents Vicki and Brian Nankervis, who visited him in England a decade ago and watched him make a century for Malton, said: “David has great memories of the Yorkshire area and Malton in particular.”
