Pool: Union top as Malton Cons topple Derwent Arms

Malton Cons avenged a whitewash earlier in the season to beat table-toppers Derwent Arms ‘B’ 4-3 in Malton & Norton League division ‘A’.

It ended Arms’ 100 per cent record, and opened the door for Union ‘A’ to go top with a whitewash of their own against Royal Oak ‘A’.

Union now head the table by three points but Derwent have a game in hand. Malton Cons remain in third.

Bright Steels ‘B’ returned to winning ways to stay top of division ‘B’, beating George Hotel 5-2.

This increased their lead to three points as second-placed Spotted Cow only managed to edge out bottom club King’s Head ‘B’ 4-3.

Third-placed Railway Tavern ‘B’ lost 5-2 at Blue Ball ‘B’.

Defending champion Jamie Barstow is among those through to the semi-finals of the men’s individual competition after a win over James Milson.

Division ‘B’ player Dan Munro is also through as he aims to be the first second-tier player to lift the trophy.

The quarter-finals of the team KO take place this Monday: Union A v Derwent Arms A; Derwent Arms B v Bright Steels B; Malton Cons v Bright Steels A; Hyde Park A v Blue Ball A.
