Terrington Glory boys up to third in premier division

TERRINGTON Glory moved up to third in the York Minster Engineering League premier division with a 4-1 win at Selby RSSC.

Glory moved above Dringhouses with their convincing away success, but they are 14 points adrift of leaders Dunnington and three points shy of second-placed Wigginton Grasshoppers having played three games more.

Alex Yates netted a hat-trick for Glory and Mark Fisher also got on the scoresheet, while Adam Fisher turned in a man-of-the-match display.

Christopher Coxon was Selby’s scorer.

The remaining premier division games were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

Eighth-placed Amotherby & Swinton went down 4-2 at home to Church Fenton White Horse in division one on Malton Community Sports Centre’s artificial pitch.

Unbeaten reserve ‘C’ leaders Malton & Norton were 5-2 home winners over Thorpe, while Stamford Bridge won 4-1 at Tockwith.

The only scheduled newitts.com Beckett League game between Thornton-le-Dale and Slingsby was postponed on Saturday as both clubs’ pitches were waterlogged.

The Thornton-le-Dale pitch was perfect at 9am after getting marked out, but heavy rain arrived and by 10.30am the pitch was flooded. The Slingsby pitch was flooded at one end, so the game had to be called off.

A full league programme is listed for this Saturday, although Kirkbymoorside Reserves will play a quarter-final tie in the Scarborough & District FA Junior Cup at home to Flixton.
