MEMBERS of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway’s Railway In Wartime Tour dropped in to entertain the shoppers at Monks Cross shopping centre.
The group is travelling around North Yorkshire and County Durham to let people know about the largest ever Railway In Wartime weekend, hosted by NYMR from October 12 to 14.
A military Jeep, soldiers and civilians, including a pair of 1940s singers, turned out at Monks Cross to recruit new visitors to the event.
Danielle Ramsey, NYMR’s marketing manager, said: “This year, we’ve also taken over the Pickering Showground to make the festivities bigger and better than ever before, so we decided to spend a few days taking a taste of the 1940s around the region and hopefully recruit some more participants for the Railway In Wartime Weekend.”
