HERE'S the latest YCA reports from Ryedale.

Rillington and District - Eleven members attended the July meeting of Rillington and District Yorkshire Countrywomen's Association in the village hall. The speaker was Julie Ryan, press officer for International Rescue Corps. Lorna Mastaglio proposed the vote of thanks. Julie judged the competition for a suitable rescue tool and awarded first prize to Babs Buckley, second was Valerie Gilbert and third Heather Thornes. Marjorie Grice sold tickets for the raffle. Two members had attended the YCA AGM at Askham Bryan in May when Sir Gary Verity had been the speaker. The July newsletter had been circulated to all members with various items highlighted at the meeting and the chairman's report, given at the AGM, was read out. Details of the Homecraft Competition 2017 are now available, the theme being All Things Yorkshire.

Invitations had been received from Farndale and Ayton branches to events they are holding and Sherburn branch to its annual outing. The evening’s hostesses were Sue Donnell and Eileen Myers. Floral artist Tony Cleaver will give a garden slideshow at the August meeting.
