Snainton - The branch met on Tuesday, April 5. President Angela Howgate welcomed members, then a toast was drunk to the memory of Joan Butterworth, the branch’s oldest member, who had recently passed away. Glennis White from the National Trust, spoke about Goddards House, the home of the Terry family, former chocolate makers of York. She told the history of the founding of the company, and the lives of the family to the present day. After refreshments were served, some forthcoming events were announced, including the spring conference at the new venue of Scarborough College today (Wednesday), the federation quiz on Monday, May 9, and a proposed visit to the Knights Templar Hall on Tuesday, July 12. The newsletter was read and everyone was reminded to give in their entries for the spring show, which will be on Saturday, April 23. The competition was an old chocolate box and was won by Heather Harris. The May meeting will be the resolution meeting. Resolutions will be discussed to give the branch’s decision to its delegate.
