THE Royal Wedding will be hitting the big screen in Malton with a special celebration at the town’s cinema.
Jeremy Powell, owner of the Palace Cinema, is hoping to help create a party atmosphere for the historic event while raising funds for Malton Hospital.
“The idea behind this is to have a bit of a celebration in the town for the Royal Wedding with weather guaranteed and it is also a bit of a chance to give a little back.
“There should be a great atmosphere in the screen with full high definition pictures and commentary.”
Jeremy added that a number of people had already booked a seat and the momentum seemed to be gathering.
“Streekz Hairdressers were the first to book in as they are open before and after the wedding and wanted somewhere to watch the event and have something to eat as well.
“People could stay at home but this will be a bit of a street party without the street.”
Tickets are free but the cinema is asking for £1 per seat donation towards the Friends of Malton Hospital.
“We will be showing off satellite so as to get the very best picture and sound,” Jeremy added.
“We are really excited about the occasion and like to think that small is beautiful and we can do it where other cinemas could not.”
