Festival bursting with great acts

GRATEFUL and heartfelt thanks are due to the organisers of Ryedale Festival this year for musicmaking and artistry that is secondto- none.

Robin Andrews, Christopher Glynn and John Warrack put together an imaginative programme of top quality arts performers in some of the most beautiful venues in North Yorkshire. Almost every concert has sold out.

Programming has been sure-footed and imaginative. A highlight must be a triple concert at Castle Howard of peerless performances each characterised by extraordinary suppleness and conviction. Two days earlier, the world-class jazz pianist Gwilym Simcock and The Lighthouse Trio gave a knock-out jazz concert at Pickering Theatre.

There have been plenty more highlights, too many to mention, but each event contributing to this abundance of riches which has been the Ryedale Festival 2012.

Thank you for a very memorable festival. I can’t wait for the next.

REV TIM ROBINSON, Vicar of Helmsley and Upper Ryedale and Rural Dean of Northern Ryedale
