Parking issue not ‘rocket science’

SO Keith Knaggs in his Party Lines column (April 11) thinks the district council can help Ryedale’s market towns and that the proposed free parking within the Wentworth Street proposed development at Malton will be hugely important in increasing customer footfall in the town.

If free parking is so hugely important, I have a suggestion. Make it free – now. Is it rocket science to work out why the St Nicholas Street car park, Norton, is usually packed (it’s free), while the Wentworth Street car park isn’t (it costs)? If the leader of Ryedale District Council genuinely wants to help, then let’s see more action and less talk.
