Hitting back

I WAS tempted to have my two-penny worth when I read last week’s arrogant and pompous letter from Howard Keal, explaining how unarrogant and unpompous he actually is.

However, another week has passed and, blow me, he’s at it again. Is there a competition for wannabe politicians where the name of the game is to be published in the local paper as many times as possible (sometimes twice a week).

Last week, some poor soul got it in the neck for daring to suggest that perhaps another supermarket in Malton might not be such a clever idea.

This week it’s because someone dared to wrongly suggest that John Clark was a member of Howard Keal’s political party. I like to call John Clark a friend and am left wondering which of them will be the most horrified for John to be called a Liberal Democrat.

While I’m trying to be light-hearted (something that I wish Howard Keal would take on board), it is becoming a drag to have him spouting off every Wednesday. I don’t get what he wants or what he says. I only know that I do not like his irritating monologues directed at the good people of Ryedale.

Anyway, there we are. Perhaps it will be me that is taken to task next week. Sadly there is no bingo on Gazette Wednesday, so I am only too happy to devote time to repel unwanted letters.

SUE COWAN, Pickering
