THE letter suggesting that the Camphill Village Trust is getting rid of workshops based on the supposed situation at an (unnamed) site in “the south” is very unfair to the excellent communities here in Malton.

While the writer may have a grievance about Botton, to cast aspersions on the dedication and professionalism of the community members who produce high-quality handicrafts available in the Kingfisher café is unfair and certainly a breach of the “trust” the writer is quick to question.

The ethos at the Croft and at Larchfield is absolutely one of meaningful employment within a supported environment and the results are there for all to see.

The letter is creating a completely misleading impression that the workshops here are under threat, which has the potential to be extremely distressing for those involved.

If the writer really cares as much they claim to they should check their facts and consider the potential impact of their unfounded remarks.
