HAVING read the report on the fracking protests in your newspaper last week, am I the only person in the country who supports fracking?
I don’t think so. Most people I talk to, many of them farmers, fully support fracking.
Where do the anti-frackers think our energy is going to come from?
Russia is already threatening the West with cutting off gas supplies. Instability in the Middle East is another worrying factor.
Ten years ago only about 25 per cent of out gas was imported, now it is about 75 per cent. The same applies to coal with more than 75 per cent now imported.
Wind is fine so long as it is windy, but what happens when we get a big blocking high pressure over the country and no wind?
Nuclear is the obvious option, but indecision by successive governments means this is only going to supply a small amount of our energy for a considerable time.
So my message to the incoming government, whoever it might be, is to get going with the fracking and I say to the fracking protesters “get real”.
