I REFER to Robert Wainwright’s factual correction.
Robert asks why would he support fracking when he has lived in Ryedale for many years? Good question. The facts, which are a matter of public record, are: Mr Wainwright refused to support a motion to ban fracking in Ryedale at a Ryedale District Council meeting on February 17 and he failed to propose a counter motion banning fracking “in principle”.
Is the motion to ban fracking which Mr Wainwright deems “unlawful” a red herring; 11 other councillors supported the motion. Is Mr Wainwright suggesting 11 Ryedale district councillors are acting unlawfully?
A motion to ban fracking has been successfully adopted by numerous elected bodies across the UK, including York City Council.
All my points are a matter of public record.
