ON Maundy Thursday, I caught my leg on the sharp corner of my car door and got a neat little three cornered tear, which bled profusely.

I went into Lloyds Pharmacy, in Malton Market Place, to get some kind of temporary dressing until I got home.

Imagine my surprise and delight to be shown into a little room where an expert pharmacist looked at the injury, asked if I was on warfarin or was diabetic etc, cleaned the wound and applied a non-stick dressing and gave me more dressings and advice.

No waiting, no admin, just plain, kind, commonsense. If we had more of this there would be less unnecessary pressure on A&E.
