EVERYONE in Ryedale will be glad to know that Inspector Andy Everitt, of Ryedale police, kept a close eye on our behaviour at the Milton Rooms, Malton, on February 4, during Ryedale council’s public debate on fracking (Gazette & Herald, February 8).

And, given our multiple convictions for GBH, theft, petty larceny and public order offences too numerous to mention, I can see why he was so worried.

After all, he will have seen multiple members of the audience who are regularly turfed off trains for being drunken and disorderly. Why, just imagine how much worse our behaviour would be if we were (even) younger than we are.

So every one of us can be relieved that he and his team are developing an “action plan” as part of Operation Kingfisher, and that they are “fully employed at a local level to act accordingly to [sic] all developments.” Sounds intimidating. And not quite neutral. But at least we know that we can be safe from people like us.
