AS someone who is very concerned about the possibility of fracking coming to Ryedale, I am encouraged by the comprehensive coverage your paper is giving to this highly-contentious issue.

Such coverage will help people take an informed view as to whether they support this industry and its implications for the area – or not.

Also, it is crucial to reflect the views of local residents who would be affected, to ensure those who represent us are fully aware of these views and the strength of feeling behind them. And in return, I believe we should have a clear understanding of the views of our Ryedale district councillors.

These are the individuals who will play a material part in the decision-making process as to fracking happening or not, given they will be consulted as part of the planning process. Whatever the outcome regarding fracking, the residents of Ryedale should be able to make informed decision about who they want to represent them in future elections
