THE Kirkby In Bloom group was delighted to have been awarded another coveted Silver Gilt Award in this year’s Yorkshire In Bloom competition.

As chairman of the group I wish to extend an enormous thank you to all who helped achieve this result. The continuing support and sponsorship of so many businesses is important, without their financial input we could not deliver all we do.

The residents and visitors who support our cake and plant stalls and join us at our coffee mornings maintain our morale and dedication. We would like to particularly thank our friends at Ryedale Garage for their loan of a vehicle and driver to escort our judges in style for both the spring and summer judging at no cost to ourselves.

John Brown, officer from Ryedale District Council, is a stalwart of support throughout the year, and actively participates in the judging rounds. Our unsung watering team have certainly risen to the challenges this year, having to work right through the dry conditions of September. Thanks to you all.

The comments of the judges were positive and complimentary, but there are always new targets to set and aspire to in pursuit of that ultimate “wow” factor. If anyone has a little time to spare (you certainly don’t have to be a Monty Don) then we would be so pleased to hear from you.

Gaynor De Barr, chairman, Kirkby In Bloom
