ON behalf of the Ryedale Committee of Action Medical Research, I would like to thank everyone who supported our pop-up charity shop in Middleton earlier this month.
We raised a wonderful total of £1,800. Action Medical Research is a national charity which raises funds for vital research into illnesses and conditions affecting babies and young children. For example, every year in the UK more than 60,000 babies are born too early and tragically about 1,300 of these babies die. Despite premature birth being the biggest killer of babies in the country, we still do not know what causes it or how to prevent it happening.
Action Medical Research wants to fund more research into this and other conditions affecting the lives of babies and young children and local fundraising events play an important role in spreading the message.
Thank you very much to all our supporters.
