THE problem with our sort of “democratic” government is that people like William Hague, who are paid thousands of pounds in taxpayers money in MPs’ and ministerial salary, can walk away from the damage they have caused without sanction.

The policy of “the West” seems to have been to get rid of “dictators”, whether they be Gadaffi, Saddam Hussein or Assad and install “democracy”, even though some nations are so tribal that democracy cannot work and the loss of innocent life and limb has been catastrophic. But the underlying theme seems to be that all these target nations have oil.

I wonder how delighted British taxpayers are with this Government which has had to pay for the overthrow of Gadaffi (Saddam Hussein) and now rescue residual Brits in Libya while being told that we must face austerity at home.

Haig may be an incompetent who has finally realised it, but there is no punishment to deter others. Normally punishment is elevation to the Lords for service to party.
