I HAVE just been to the Kirk Theatre, in Pickering, to see Joe Longthorne.

I must confess I did not know what the evening would bring because I had not seen him before.

Chris Berry opened the show with some rousing songs, which got the audience nicely warmed up.

After a short interval, Joe Longthorne started singing from the back of the auditorium and connected with his audience immediately as he made his way to the stage.

From the first few lines it was obvious what a professional he is and I thoroughly enjoyed his performance.

The theatre was packed and he has a fan base which obviously follows him around because people had travelled far and wide to see him.

He gave a great performance of songs interspersed with comedy and impersonations, which showed how talented he is.

His final song was, If I Never Sing Another Song, which was rather poignant because he is due for further surgery next week for throat cancer.

He received a standing ovation from his audience, but did not return for an encore because he seemed quite emotional.

Thank you Joe for a fantastic evening of entertainment. We all wish you well next week and for the future.

Well done Kirk Theatre for booking such a talented performer, let’s have more of these, please.

I must just add that a Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin Tribute Night is on Friday, June 27, at the Kirk Theatre, Pickering, and I can’t wait.

Get your tickets, it should be another fantastic night.
