I HAVE lived in Thornton-le-Dale for more than 50 years and have witnessed the gradual demise of shops serving local people.
However, throughout this period I have been served by at least three generations of the Garbutt family in their shop, Wardill brothers, opposite the village square.
I would like to express my gratitude for all you have done for the village, stocking everything and more.
I do not know what we would do without you. While we have lost a separate Post Office, you quickly stepped into the breach, altered the shop and been able to accommodate a vital service for us all.
For all your hard work and commitment to the village, we should all say a very big thank-you.
Jane Thompson, Thornton-le-Dale
