Team raised £252k for charity

AT this financially difficult time, it is heart-warming to be able to give some good news.

In 1999, a small group of people got together to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care in the Kirkbymoorside area. The aim of the organisation is to provide home nursing for people with terminal illnesses in the community. This comes free to the patient and enables them to remain at home surrounded by family and friends in familiar surroundings.

Over the time the group has grown but most of the original team remains working together as a great team of friends. We have held many and varied events, from coffee mornings to sponsored walks, fashion shows, cookery demonstrations, floral demonstrations, tractor runs, street collections and many other events.

We have received many donations from very generous people and our loyal supporters are always there at the events. It is so humbling and gratifying to receive such support which enables the nursing service to continue.

All monies raised locally are used locally to continue this amazing nursing service.

Thank you one and all. Between us we have banked £252,610 over the past 13 years.

June Cook, Chairman of Kirkbymoorside fundraising group for Marie Curie Cancer Care
