AN ARBORETUM will has decided to host Winter Welly Walks again on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day to help people walk off their seasonal overindulgence in glorious surroundings.
John Grimshaw, director of the Yorkshire Arboretum at Castle Howard, said the walks were back by popular demand after being organised for the past decade.
“Afterwards, walkers will enjoy mulled wine, hot and cold drinks, a delicious selection of home-made cakes and treats and plenty of festive cheer in the cosy visitor centre,” he said.
He said The walks are were organised and run entirely by volunteers to raise funds for the arboretum and to enable people to get out in the fresh air. They walks will be taking place from 10.30am to 3pm on December 26 and January 1.
Tickets, including entry to the arboretum, food and drink, cost £6 per adult, £4 for children aged 11-16 and £2 for children aged 5-10, with under-fives free. Booking is required by emailing visit@yorkshirearboretum.org or phoning 01653 648598.
