A COUPLE have donated a selection of plants after reading about the theft of an £8 Sedum in the Gazette & Herald.

Mark and Alison Baker, who live in Pockley, had seen the article about the plant which was stolen from a piece of land near a snicket in Conference Close, Malton.

Retired butcher Derek Fox and his wife, Gloria had donated some plants to their neighbour to brighten up the area.

However, next morning they discovered that one of the plants had been taken.

Derek said he could not believe it when they discovered that an £8 plant out of all those they had given was missing.

"It was pretty annoying when we discovered on of the plants had been stolen the following day," he added.

Mark, a senior key accounts manager, for Kohler Mira Ltd, said: "We love gardening and were more than happy to supply lots of Sedums to replace the ones stolen."

" I work away all week so always read the Gazette & Herald keeps me up to date with what I miss by working in London.
